Dear Ray, Melissa, Tim, Lindsey, Allie, and Families
I have known Karen since the days when our children attended Howe Elementary School as kindergarteners. She was always a loving, protective mother. We were friends when we both worked at the high school. We also have daughters who are the same age and who were both Silks in the high school color guard, and we enjoyed each other's company at the high school football games, both home and away. Karen and Ray attended every game. They were always there supporting their kids, not just at football games, but in every aspect of their lives. I was saddened to hear when Karen first got ill. I would stop to visit her in the office almost every day after she came back to work to see how she was doing. I was happy to hear that she had gotten well again and was able to eventually retire and enjoy her family. I'm sure it brought her much joy when both of her granddaughters, Kayleigh and Raleigh, were born. She was overjoyed about her grandchildren. She was always quick-witted and fun to be around. We lost touch, and I was shocked when I found out that she had become ill again. I'm so sorry about her death. I wish I could have had one more conversation with her. How fast time goes by. My heart and prayers go out to the entire family. She will bring you comfort knowing that she is no longer suffering and that she will be with you for eternity. May God hold you all in the palm of His hand.
