Tony and family,
Words cannot express how saddened we are to hear of your loss! We didn't know JoAnn well, but she had to be special! Your whole family is special! JoAnn helped us more than she ever knew.
When our daughter-in-law was told she had a heart attack after the birth of her last child, JoAnn gave us the name of a doctor that got her back to caring for her family and enjoying her life. She had never met our daughter-in-law, but reached out to help! We will forever be grateful for that!
We know she will be sorely missed and we pray that the Lord will comfort you all in your loss. We are holding you all in love and prayer! Rest in peace JoAnn.

To the family of Joann Palmieri,
You have my deepest sympathy. Joann was not only an extraordinary nurse practitioner, but a truly amazing woman. She was a shoulder to lean on when my father passed away and she quickly became a second mom to me. I still fondly read her emails about her dog sledding excursion in Minnesota, she highly recommended that i try this with my children and i plan to start making plans to do so. She was such an inspiration to everyone she crossed paths with. I enjoyed working with her and sharing stories about her life adventures. Her smile brightened the room and made every day a little better. She will be greatly missed.

Joanne was such an inspiration to me. I worked with her at the VA in Pittsburgh and for the past two years that I have known her she has taught me countless things with my patients that I will never forget. She was the most kind and caring nurse and always a joy to be around. We loved her very much and she will be greatly missed. My prayers and thoughts are with her and her family.

JoAnn was my most respected and admired instructor at Ohio Valley General Hospital School of Nursing. I decided to pursue nursing as a second career and was in my mid 40's when I started. JoAnn understood the unique challenges that the "older" students faced and she went out of her way to make learning both positive and fun. I remember that she always had time for her students; no matter how dumb the questions were or how many times we needed the same answer before we understood. She truly was a giant in the field of nursing and will be fondly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to be associated with her in this wonderful profession.

As a new young nurse on the Telemetry unit, JoAnn Palmiere quickly became a role model, teacher, friend, and an inspiration. Not only did I admire her loving and caring bedside manner, but she always took the time to educate me on new things. Her patients and fellow co-workers loved her. The Veterans Healthcare system has suffered a great loss and she will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.
