Bernie and I send our deepest condolences to Tom, Marlene, Amy, Stacy, Bill, Janet, and all of the rest of Florence's loving family and friends. We have been gone from Pittsburgh for almost 15 years now, but Florence was such a bright feature in our friendship with Tom during our graduate school years. We have thought of her more often than you know and always with a smile: her special cole slaw at Tom's cookouts, her terrific sense of humor, and more than that, her sweet nature and curious mind. We absolutely loved hearing her political views and seeing her pride and love for her family. We will never forget her and hope that you will all draw comfort from each other and perhaps, in some small way, in knowing that Florence was loved by us.
