Obituary of Jerold M Starr

Jerry Starr, Ph.D., 71 of Mt. Lebanon, on July 13, 2012. He was a truthseeker, social activist, world traveler, philanthropist, author, professor of sociology, playwright, actor, faithful friend and beloved husband, father and brother. He touched many lives as an inspirational teacher and champion of working people, minorities, and youth. He had the courage to air uncomfortable truths using meticulous research and sharp analysis as in his books LESSONS OF THE VIET NAM WAR, CULTURAL POLITICS, AIR WARS, and play BURIED: THE SAGO MINE DISASTER. His semi-autobiographical play INTERESTING TIMES was both poignant and funny. He received acclaim for his portrayal of Walter Franz in Arthur Miller"s THE PRICE. He will be sorely missed by his wife Judy, sons Jason and Zack, sister Sherry, and many family members and friends. All arrangements private by Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333).
