I was shocked and saddened to learn of your death, David. I have coached hundreds of young men over the years and many were great athletes but David, you are so special and such a wonderful young man! I moved to Florida many years ago but I try to keep up with many of the student athletes that I chose to spend the majority of my adult life coaching. David, I read so many wonderful comments about you and I now know that you remembered many of our talks about someday giving back to other young men and women what we hoped to pass on to you! I am so proud to have been your friend and coach for so many years! I know I am a better person for having the opportunity of spending time with you thru the years! You will always live thru your friends and other young adults that you have touched. Your son will know of you and love you for the wonderful acts you have done to help others in your life. David, this is not the end but a new beginning. I am so very sure that you will be smiling and helping others as you have your entire life. We all will meet again someday David and when we do we can chat about all of the other young men and women we have helped in our lifetime. These are the young men and women that will be coaching and teaching your son and my grandchildren. In honor of David I ask that everyone offers help to some young men or women who are in need of help! Together, we can keep David's spirit alive and make him smile by the rest of us carrying out his work!

Dave and I met during the 2001 hockey season at Washington and Jefferson College. He was an established star and I was a tryout, and yet he embraced me and made me a part of that team. I''ll never forget that.
We didn''t stay close following that year, running into each other up til graduation, and then life took us apart.
I next saw Dave at Blockbuster Video in Washington, Pa putting himself through grad school. He was having a hard time, but that smile of his as he saw me walk through that door...I''ll never forget that smile.
I haven''t seen Dave since...I'll see him again though...but how happy I was to hear of his life and to have those memories rekindled. May the Lord wrap each of you, his family, tightly in His arms and may His abundant peace and comfort rain upon you. I''ll miss you Dave...until then.

Connie, Jill and all family members:
Words cannot express the sadness and disbelief when I read about the passing of Dave. My stomach dropped when I read this. I can clearly remember him as a student and being an outstanding young man. He was a great kid. I'm sure he was a fabulous son, husband and father. Please know that all of you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
With great sadness and sympathies.

Armitage Family:
I think everyone who has met Dave knows what a great person he was...my eyes fill with tears for all of us.
He has touched more lives than you can possibly comprehend and I think, in the end, that's a great and special gift. A little piece of him will stay alive in all our hearts.
I hope you find peace and comfort... Praying for you all.
