Obituary of Frank Roy Bondy
Bondy
Frank Roy, Jr.
Age 63, of Bridgeville, PA, returned home to his Heavenly Father and his cat on 4 March, 2018, in time for church and after a long battle with cancer. He was born May 6, 1954, in Detroit, to the late Ruth and Frank Bondy, Sr. After graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in nuclear engineering, Frank served in the United States Army, achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. It was during his final assignment that he met the fiery redhead who would become the love of his life and his wife of 38 years, Catherine Adele (Foster) Bondy. After leaving the Army, Frank returned to Michigan to begin a career engineering for the Navy, which ultimately led him to Pittsburgh and Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, where he would work faithfully for thirty years. Along the way, Frank and Catherine had and successfully raised the greatest three children ever made: Naomi, Angelica, and Benjamin. Frank was a fierce Catholic and a man of great faith, and was very active in his church and religious organizations, to include the Walk to Emaeus, the Knights of Columbus, Holy Child Parish, Covenant Church of Pittsburgh, and his various prayer groups. He was into craft beer before it was cool, and loved to sing barbershop quartet and dance the polka and waltz with Cathy. He was not a cat person, so he and Cathy only had three of them, and he would only play with them for eight hours a day. He was an avid distance runner until his hip replacements, and then became an avid distance biker, which (much to Cathy's chagrin) enabled him to travel a hundred miles a day instead of only ten. He was Jeopardy's most faithful fan, though he never applied because he didn't want Ken Jennings to feel inferior. He was a connoisseur of Far Side cartoons and the Three Stooges, and never passed up an opportunity to watch a good dirt track car race, or do a twelve page math problem for fun. He tried to see as much of the country as he could, and the national parks will certainly miss the boost he gave their budget. Frank is preceded in death by his aforementioned parents and his cat Pockets. He is survived by his wife Catherine, his children, Naomi Connelly, Angelica Bondy, and Benjamin (Carrie) Bondy, his sisters Barbara (Alan) Fisher, and Mary Ann (Theodore) Krause, his brothers John (Peggy) Bondy, Paul Bondy and Arthur (Linda) Parks, his granddaughters Aubrianna and Brenna, and his remaining cats Buckle and Scraps. Friends received Thursday, 2-4 and 6-8 PM, in the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 12 Noon, at Holy Child Parish, Bridgeville (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Memorial contributions may be made to Operation Homefront.
