Obituary of Diane Marie Rey
"Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undo grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free."

Diana "Diane" Maria Rey, 49, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017. Diane was born in Pittsburgh, PA on December 29, 1967, a daughter of Miguel Angel and Juanita (Cordova) Rey. She was a caregiver for a homebound elderly woman, and also maintained her love of singing and song through her part-time music entertainment services such as karaoke. Diane served in various roles through her adult life, all characterized by aid to others young and old. Diane loved to bring joy to others-Christmas was her favorite time of year. She couldn't wait to don her Santa hat for karaoke shows, and turn on her Christmas lights, leaving an ever present glow in her home well beyond the season. Diane's "glow" was something felt by all who knew her, whether it was in a short encounter, or over years. She was a sweet, charismatic, and kind soul with a very big and kind heart. That smiling girl who wanted everyone to have fun, who loved to make others laugh and feel good, especially her daughter, her world. She will be dancing a merengue with Him in Heaven, and singing her favorite "The Ave Maria" for all her deceased family there. Now, for those of us who may dare to sing and give that karaoke a try, we'll dedicate our song to you, Diane, in the hopes we can make YOU smile-and maybe we'll get to feel that smile from Heaven. Diane is survived by her parents Miguel Angel and Juanita (Cordova) Rey of North Providence, RI, one daughter Alejandrina Juanita (age 10), of Pittsburgh, PA, one brother, Michael Angel Rey and his wife Lynn of South Fayette, PA one sister, Jannette Rey Todaro and her husband John of East Greenwich, RI. Diane will also be missed by her nieces and nephews, Miguel III and his wife Carla (and their two sons, Miguel IV and Luca), Christian, Allison, Martha, Cole, Riley, Sophia, and Isabella.
Memorial contributions in Diane's name may be sent to Michael Rey, who along with his sister Jannette, will be establishing a college fund for Diane's sweet little daughter, Alejandrina. Other expressions of sympathy may be sent to Juanita & Miguel Rey, 1546 Smith St., North Providence, RI 02911, Michael & Lynn Rey, 900 Alpine Road, South Fayette, PA 15017, or to Jannette & John Todaro, 40 Owl Tree Lane, East Greenwich, RI 02818. Our dear Diane/Mommy/Dianin/Lady Di: May the winds of Heaven blow softly, and whisper in your ear how much we love and miss you, and wish you were here. We will remember you always, pray for you, and forever be there for your sweet angel Alejandrina!
