Obituary of Betty M. Antion
Age 92, of Ames, IA, formerly of Carnegie, passed away May 7, 2017. Beloved wife of the late John W. Antion, loving mother of Bruce (the late Barbara) of Iowa and Daniel (Muriel) of Connecticut. She is survived by two grandchildren, Sara (Matthew) Merritt and Faith Antion. She was predeceased by brothers, Albert and Bud; and her sister, Ethel Kidder. Betty worked as a switchboard operator for Kaufman’s Department Store in Pittsburgh and later for the State of Pennsylvania. She retired as the Switchboard Supervisor at Mayview State Hospital in Bridgeville. She continued working part-time until she was 76. She moved to Iowa in 2013. Betty was a lifelong member of the Carnegie Primitive Methodist Church, having joined as a Junior Member when she was 13. During over 75 years of active membership, she served in a wide variety of service and social roles. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed bowling, bingo, and the occasional casino visit. Friends received on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service at NOON at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333).
