Krystyna T. Piatek-Krantz, 80, of Green Tree, PA, passed away on June 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, faith, and kindness that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born in Poland in 1945, she was the beloved daughter of Maria and Antoni Nosal. She grew up braving a rural post-WWII area under a communist regime, together with 8 beloved older siblings in a close-knit family.

As a young adult, Krystyna pursued a Master’s degree in history at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. Gifted with a love of languages, she became fluent in several and enjoyed traveling in Europe and learning about different cultures and traditions. She pursued a career in the tourism industry and met her future husband, a dashing American former Air Force sergeant, while working the front desk of a renowned hotel in Krakow. They were married in Poland, and she joined him in Green Tree in 1980. She embraced her new country wholeheartedly. She engaged her knowledge of languages to translate for the Berlitz Institute, volunteer at the Carnegie Library, and teach Polish and Russian. She and her husband enjoyed concerts at Heinz Hall, military history, and traveling.

Throughout her life, she was known for her intelligence, determination, and remarkable ability to connect and engage with people from all walks of life. Above all else, Krystyna's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose love knew no bounds. Her family always came first, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to those she loved. Her devotion to her husband was especially evident during his illness, as she lovingly cared for him day and night until his passing in 2013. The loss of her beloved husband remained in her heart, and she cherished his memory every day by dedicating time to the Berlin Airlift Veterans Association (BAVA), attending their annual meetings, and becoming the editor of BAVA’s newsletter “The Legacy”.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Krystyna was a faithful Catholic whose beliefs guided her actions and strengthened her throughout life's joys and challenges. Her kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit reflected the values she held dear.

Krystyna found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved writing letters, tending her garden, traveling, and spending precious time with her daughter and grandson, whom she adored and doted on. She used “Meet” to keep up with her nephews and nieces in Poland almost daily. She especially enjoyed visiting Maine and returning to Poland, the homeland she always held close to her heart.

Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and hospitality. She expressed her love through cooking, especially preparing soups and traditional Polish dishes that connected her family to their heritage. She felt strongly about recycling and not wasting food. She enjoyed watching "When Calls the Heart" and classic Polish films, finding joy in stories that celebrated family, resilience, and love.

Those who knew Krystyna will remember her for her compassionate heart and her extraordinary ability to make others feel special, valued, and loved. She had a gift for making people feel welcomed and cared for, and her presence brought comfort to friends, family, and all who crossed her path.

Krystyna is survived by her daughter Kate (husband Ryszard), her grandson Charlie, sisters-in-law Stanislawa and Zofia, nephews and nieces with families in Poland and the US, and friends, all of whom will forever treasure her memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley, her parents, siblings - Marysia, Stasia, Jadzia, Basia, Franek, Tosiek, Zygmunt, and Edek, and two nieces and three nephews.

Krystyna will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, love, devotion, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is once again reunited with the love of her life and resting peacefully in God's eternal embrace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 16 at 9:30 AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Church of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Green Tree, PA. Interment will follow at 11:00 AM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil PA.  If you would like to join in the procession to the church, please meet at Warchol Funeral Home at 8:45 AM, otherwise please go directly to the church.
