Norman P. Leonard Obituary

LEONARD,

NORMAN P.

Age 95, of Cecil, on May 2, 2026.  Beloved husband of the late Shirley A. (Kirsch) Leonard; loving father of Mary Helen (Mark) Parinella, the late Jean (Gary Sr. who survives) Feth, Lisa Heinz, Cathy (Bill) Geisler, Michele (Jeff) Dolak, and Norma (Jerry) Mattarock; cherished grandfather of Patrick (Stephanie) Feth, Gary (Becca) Feth, Jr., Amanda (Zach) Carlisle, Nick Parinella, Lindsay Dolak, Rebecca Geisler, and Crystal Ross; great grandfather of Alexis, Colton, Austin, Hadley, Carson, Cayden, Bobby, Sammi, Jenna, Jake, and Kylee; and great-great grandfather of Angelo; brother of Dolly (the late Ed) Groesch; preceded in death by his parents Louis G. and Mary C. (Schmidt) Leonard and his siblings Louis (the late Polly) Leonard and Helen (the late Rich) Dominowski; also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Upon graduating high school, Norman began working at the Monastery in the Southside of Pittsburgh as a cook.  He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was proudly awarded the Ambassador for Peace medal recently.  He worked part time for both J & L Steel and the U.S. Postal Service before attending the police academy.   He retired as a robbery detective from the City of Pittsburgh Police Department, where he served for 30 plus years in different roles.  Norman was a hardworking man, who was a policeman, provided for his family, and was an avid Penguins and Steelers fan.  Norman was a friend to everyone he met, always kind and smiling.  He was known for his green grass, his gigantic tomato plants, and his Washington County Fair award-winning homemade fudge.  His devotion to the Divine Mercy was most important to him.  It gave him the opportunity to witness to others and that made him the most happy.  He will be sadly missed.
