Frances L. (Zimin) Corey Obituary
Frances L. Corey (Zimin) of East Finley Township, Claysville, PA, fell asleep in the Lord on March 11, 2026.
Frances is the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl Zimin; the beloved wife of the late Norman F. Corey Sr.; loving mother of Prudence A. (the late Frank) McAllister, Ellen R. (the late John) Schmidt, Marion F. (Edward Sr.) Nelson, and the late Norman F. Corey Jr. MD; the sister of Betty Jo Bake, the late Charles C. Zimin, the late Virginia Graham, and the late Gloria Hartman. Frances is survived by eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
Frances was born on November 5, 1930. From a young age, she understood the importance of faith and family—virtues she carried throughout her entire life. Frances dreamed of land to call her own, and through immeasurable sacrifice, Frances alongside her husband, Norman Sr., turned a farm in Claysville into more than just a home; for her, it was paradise and a safe haven. She was the hardest worker anyone knew and possessed a spirit that never gave up, a resilience seen in the years she spent tending to the family pig farm. Just as a farmer nurtures the soil, Frances nurtured her family, perfecting the art of maternal devotion to ensure her four children had opportunities she never had as a child.
A dedicated mother, wife, and steward of the land, Frances was above all a faithful servant of God and was a devoted member of St. George Church. Beyond her steadfast faith, she found great joy in life’s simple pleasures: she loved the spirit of Western films, the warmth of a kitchen filled with family, and the quiet beauty of flowers and gardens. A sweet dream Frances carried was to take a Winnebago with all of her babies to "bum, and bum, and bum" across the country. Frances also dreamed of pancakes in the family barn.
Though Frances has left this life, she leaves behind a legacy of love that spans generations. Her passion and her heart—large enough to fill an ocean—will be missed dearly by all who did, and forever will, know her.
