Age 80, of Washington, on February 17, 2026.  Beloved husband of Ellen (Corey) Schmidt; loving brother of Linda (Robert) Similo, Mary Ann (Harry) Harrison, and Robert (Nancy) Schmidt; cherished son of the late John P. and Josepha (Doerr) Schmidt.  John served proudly with the U.S. Army during Vietnam.  He was a graduate of Eastern Michigan and an All-American Football Player, and past President of The National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame, Pittsburgh Chapter.  John was a longtime member of St. George Orthodox Church.  He enjoyed golfing and running and was a member of the Duquesne Club and the Pittsburgh Field Club.  Family and friends received on Friday from 2-6 PM with a Trisagion Service at 5:30 PM at St. George Orthodox Church, 3230 Washington Pike, Bridgeville.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at St. George Orthodox Church.
