After a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, it is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas J. McGuire.
Tom passed on December 24, 2025 at the age 78 – ironically, Christmas Eve was his favorite day of the holiday season. Tom was the son of the late John McGuire and Margaret (White) McGuire of Glendale. He was a lifetime resident of Scott Township, and a 1965 graduate of Chartiers Valley high school.
As the owner of the Fireside Inn, he will be sadly missed by many long-time customers and staff that he considered family. Prior to owning the Fireside Inn, Tom had an extremely successful partnership in Pfeifer and McGuire Beer Distributor.
Affectionately known as “The Big Guy,” he enjoyed playing softball and sponsored many local teams. Tom was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and an eternal optimist that each year would be “THE YEAR” for his beloved Pittsburgh Pirates. Tom enjoyed vacationing at his home in West Palm Beach Florida, and he loved his pets. Tom was known for his daily presence at the Fireside, and always offering his customers and friends a “roadie.”
Tom was the beloved husband of Diane (Drummond) McGuire; loving father of Tammy (Danny) Chesky, Tommy (Niki) McGuire, Tracy (John Conley) Creely; and Louie (Leah) Jesiolkiewic; cherished Pap to Brenna, Jace, Ryan, Hannah, Reece, Katie, and Johnny; brother of Nancy (Bill) Lang and Eileen (John) Meyers; a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Family and friends received on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 1-5 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., Bridgeville (412.221.3333), where a celebration of life service will be held immediately following at 5 PM.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation of Western Pennsylvania.
