Our beloved mother, Betty Mae Thompson of Bridgeville, PA, was called home to be with the LORD and Savior on Saturday, December 6th, 2025 at the age of 95.
Betty was born August 17th, 1930 in Salem, Ohio to William and Rena Bridges. Betty was the middle child of 3 children. Betty’s family moved to Burgettstown, PA where she attended Burgettstown School District. After high school, Betty met and married John Spottswood Thompson on December 26th, 1948. Their union brought about 4 daughters and 2 sons. Betty was the heart and soul of her home and family, providing unconditional love and support. She was known for being an exceptional cook and seamstress. Betty always kept her faith, being a member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church in Virgina (where she was baptized) and the First Baptist Church of Bridgeville. In her later years, she enjoyed watching tennis and golf; loved flea marketing, shopping and doing Sudoku puzzles and enjoyed reading her Bible and attending Bible Study.
She was preceded in death by her parents William and Rena Bridges, her brother, William Bridges, Jr., her granddaughter, Sheena Thompson, 5 brother-in-laws, 5 sister-in-laws and her devoted husband of 58 years, John Thompson, Sr.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, 4 daughters: Charlotte (Tyrone) Curry, Diana (Donald, Jr.) Griffin, Yvonne (Gary) Patterson, and Beverly (Craig) Davis. 2 sons: John Jr. (Renee Beachy), and Steven (Johnna Clevenger). 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. 1 sister: Viola Terrell and 1 sister-in-law: Margaret Ponton (wife of deceased brother, William Bridges, Jr.) and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, loved ones and friends.
Services will be held at Warchol Funeral Home, 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA 15017. Viewing on Thursday, December 11, from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral service will be on Friday, December 12, at 11:00am, at Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville.
