Age 65, of Collier Twp., unexpectedly on July 16, 2025. Jay was a kind, gentle soul with a heart full of humor. He had a gift for making others laugh — always ready with a quick joke, a clever pun, or a perfectly timed one-liner. His light-hearted nature and warm presence brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew him.
Beyond his humor, Jay was a steady, loving presence — someone who cared deeply, listened well, and never hesitated to lend a hand. He lived life with quiet strength, a big heart, and a playful grin that made the hard days a little easier and the good days even brighter.
A retired coal miner for Consol Energy, he enjoyed gardening and cooking. Jay was a longtime member of the Bridgeville Owl’s Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Gillian, who will miss him dearly and carry his laughter and love with her always. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura, his parents, Joseph and Grace, and his sister, Susie Barbie.
He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Kingston and his brother, Mark Collavo, sisters in law, Karen McLaughlin and Mary McLaughlin Young, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Friends received Monday, July 21, from 2-7 pm, at the Warchol Funeral Home, Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412-221-3333). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 22, at 1:30 pm, at Holy Child Church of Corpus Christi Parish (EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH).
