She received her formal education in the Bridgeville Public School System and graduated from Lincoln High School in June 1947. Upon graduation she worked at UPMC for many years until she retired. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed attending baseball games in earlier years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bridgeville, PA where she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She was a dedicated member and was honored as the mother of the church. She loved her church family, was proud of what she called the “music ensemble” and talked about the fantastic vocals and talented musicians. She loved her family and always looked forward to seeing everyone for family reunions and picnics. She insisted on always having the headline say, “Let’s Get Together.” She was the matriarch; knew she was loved and shared special relationships with many of her family. She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Donald Spencer Sr. of Pittsburgh, PA and a daughter, Karen L. Spencer of Cleveland, TN. She also leaves to cherish her memory grandsons; Donald Spencer Jr., Antonio Spencer and Andre Ford, granddaughters; Dawnque, Dawnita, and Dawnrica Spencer, several great-grandchildren, sisters Ruth Adkins of Philadelphia, PA, Florence White of Capital Heights, MD and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. “To everything there is a season.” – Ecclesiastes 3:1 Family and friends received Saturday, May 10, from 9:30 am - 10:30 am, at which time a Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am at BOWER HILL COMMUNITY CHURCH, 70 Moffett St., Pittsburgh, PA 15243.
