Obituary of Louis W. "Snook" Lherbier

Louis W. Lherbier (“Snook”), age 90, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Maxine (Kosky) Lherbier, and a sister, Lavonne (Lherbier) LeMal. He was the son of the late Louis (“Spider”) and Marie (Kirkpatrick) Lherbier. Loving father of Louis (Debbie) Lherbier, Mark (Annette)Lherbier and Michelle (Kevin) Sagnimeni; Grandfather of Olivia Cook, Owen Sagnimeni and Paige and Abby Lherbier. Uncle “Snook” is survived and loved by many nieces and nephews. He grew up in South Fayette, was a graduate of South Fayette High School, a graduate of Carnegie Tech, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. His career of 60 years included continuous employment at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corporation (Cytemp Specialty Steel), Dynamet Incorporated and Carpenter Technology. After retiring in 2016 he continued as an independent consultant until 2024. He was a renowned expert on the melting, processing and structural characteristics of superalloys and stainless steels. He was a highly respected metallurgist and a welcomed source of advice and knowledge to peers throughout the industry. Lou traveled the world for work, cultivating his love for meeting new people and immersing himself in diverse cultures. His passion for exploration was something he longed to share with his family and friends. From wandering the ancient ruins of Turkey to sailing the crystal-clear waters of Tahiti, every adventure brought him joy. Beyond his travels, Lou cherished the simple pleasures of life—laughing with friends at nightly bingo games, trying his luck at the casino, and gathering for weekly dinners at the local Kings Restaurant. His adventurous spirit and love for companionship will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville, PA (412-221-3333), where a service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM.
