Obituary of Sheldon Jay Closky
Age 62, of South Fayette Township, on February 8, 2025. Born February 24, 1962. He was a graduate of Upper St. Clair High School and Robert Morris University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in IT and a master’s degree in education. He served proudly for 6 years with the U.S. Navy, stationed on the USS Eisenhower and worked at Bethesda Naval Hospital. Sheldon worked as an IT Consultant for various companies, and taught computer science and business at the middle school and high school levels in Baldwin School District.
Beloved husband of Nancy Burns Closky; loving father of Jason (Morgan) Closky of Jacksonville, FL and Rachel Closky of South Fayette; cherished son of Connie and Jerry Closky; brother of Tobey (Scott) Yerkes and Kevin (Michelle) Closky, and uncle of Jonathan Yerkes; also survived by many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. He loved coaching his son’s baseball team and was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He loved sports cars, especially his Roush Mustang. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Clair Hospital Cancer Center at Dunlap Outpatient Center.
Family and friends received on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at the Warchol Funeral Home Inc., 3060 Washington Pike, Bridgeville (412.221.3333), where a service will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 PM. Interment and military honors to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mario Lemieux Foundation, Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Light of Life Mission, or the Cam Heyward Foundation.
